Canadian Women in Technology Receives Over 35 Applicants for New Advisory Council

Top women leaders help lead Mentorship, Entrepreneurship, Career Development, and Advocacy initiatives for an expanded CanWIT organization

OTTAWA - CanWIT, a Division of CATAAlliance, will be announcing the members of its new CanWIT Advisory Council (CAC) next week. With over 35 incredibly qualified and talented applicants, the nominating committee will select 9 – 12 entrepreneurs, industry and academic leaders, and students. All applicants also have the opportunity to participate on CanWIT’s Mentorship Committee and as Community Leaders in their regions. This new and more diversified operating model will evolve our stakeholder representation to meet the needs of women in our Advanced Technology Sector.

The CAC will serve as a governing body to provide guidance and advice in relation to the implementation and operation of CanWIT's mandate to support women in Canada's advanced technology sector, and also offers a community network to assess needs, trends, and achievements. The CAC will consult on a regular basis to contribute to both the current and future initiatives of CanWIT.

CanWIT recently broadened its mandate to offer new opportunities for its membership base and to increase strategic partnerships across North America. New partnerships with U.S.-based Springboard Enterprises and Startup Canada will also assist in fostering CanWIT’s commitment to mentorship, entrepreneurship for women-led tech companies, and innovation.
