Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT) and McGill University’s ‘Promoting Opportunities for Women in Engineering’ (POWE) have partnered to co-host “Mentorship Matters Montreal!” Join this unique mentoring roundtable session for female engineering and technology students and young professionals to receive advice and address their main concerns as women in the work force. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about CanWIT and POWE!

Each table of students and professionals will be discussing three topics. The topics are:

  • Mentorship
  1. o   How to find a mentor?
  2. o   Why is it important?
  3. o   How to ensure a successful relationship?
  • Careers
  1. o   How to find a job?
  2. o   What do employers look for?
  3. o   Beneficial skills to have
  4. o   General tips and advice
  • Professional Development
  1. o   How to get ahead?
  2. o   How to stand out?
  3. o   How to promote yourself?
  4. o   Importance of building a network?
  5. o   Work/life balance

Once you enter the building, go up the stairs and turn right. It will be the first room on the right.

About Promoting Opportunities for Women in Engineering (POWE)
POWE is a philanthropic group at McGill University under Engineering Undergraduate Society (EUS).

POWE’s main goals are:

  • To promote awareness for female students in engineering
  • To encourage young women to join this field of study by exposing them to the many career opportunities that an engineering degree offers
  • To enlighten others about the important contributions and general role of women in the engineering field
  • To create a positive and friendly environment where fellow female engineers can socialize and seek support
