Fawn Maureen Annan, President and Group Publisher, IT World Canada

Fawn Annan in 2010 became the President and Group Publisher of IT World Canada, the leading online information resource for Canadian information and communications technology (ICT) professionals. IT World Canada is the Canadian affiliate of International Data Group (IDG), the world’s largest IT provider, located in 97 countries. Ms. Annan is one of three female Presidents within this global publishing network. Canadian titles include CIO Canada, ComputerWorld Canada, CDN, Direction Informatique, ITWorldcanada.com; ITBusiness.ca and newly released, Canadian CIO.

In 1995 Ms. Annan joined IT World Canada as General Manager, Executive Programs, launching the publishing enterprise into C-level events and research projects. She became Publisher of its Government Portfolio in 1997 which included an online portal, CIO Government Review and myriad events for the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments. She was awarded Vendor of the Year in 1998 from the Municipal Information Systems Association for her groundbreaking work in bringing three levels of government together to discuss citizen-centered services. She founded Showcase Ontario with the then Chief Corporate Information Officer, Scott Campbell, which was a platform to promote and encourage ICT excellence within the Public Service for Ontario.

In 2008 Fawn was promoted to Chief Strategy Officer, helping IT World navigate the turmoil that was descending upon the print industry which was a move that allowed her to assume the role of President.

Before working with IT World Canada, Fawn was the CEO of the Open Systems Shows, from 1985 to 1992. The Open Systems Shows were produced coast-to-coast and supported by the UNIX association, Uniforum Canada. In 1993 Fawn contracted with Hewlett Packard’s Panacom Division to create a tele-sales force selling into the US for the x-Terminal, made in Waterloo.
B Fawn was schooled both in Australia and Canada, and attended York University studying Communications and Business. She also studied at Boston’s famous Babson College which houses the IDG Publishing Institute. She currently sits on the Ontario ITAC Board, the iCanada Advisory Board, IAB, and CATA WIT. Previously she was on the Athabasca Board for MBA programs and the MISA Board representing the Vendor community.

Fawn lives in Toronto with her husband James. She has one son and two step-children. She is a yoga enthusiast, an avid reader and believes in life-long learning to keep your soul refreshed.
